The Gates of Horn and Ivory

Two Gates the silent House of Sleep adorn; Of polish'd Iv'ry this, that of transparent Horn:
True Visions thro' transparent Horn arise; Thro' polish'd Iv'ry pass deluding Lies.

I'm still watching. Just saw the latest one now, episode titled "Penguin's Umbrella". Pretty cool seeing how he's positioning himself into a place of power.

It's been pretty good, for sure. It really hammers home that Penguin is the true mastermind in Gotham.

Well yeah they are making him out to be a real serial killer and mastermind. I never thought of the Penguin that way before.

This show has been good stuff. It's been a good season for superhero/comic book shows.

Gotham, Agents of SHIELD, The Flash, Arrow, and now Constantine.

They are really not bad shows. My favorite has got to be Gotham though. But I like Agents of SHIELD. Frankly Josef watches all of them more than I do. But he buys comics, including Hellblazer.

I'm really liking Constantine. Were I to rank these comic book shows in terms of 'must watch on original airing', I'd probably right now rate them from:

SHIELD, then Constantine, then Gotham, then Flash, then Arrow. Flash and Arrow are close though since they share the same universe.

I like SHIELD, but I never got into them as much as others. When I was reading comics it was all Vertigo stuff, Hellblazer, and X-men for me. But I can see what you mean. I paid attention to the last Constantine and thought it was good, I was surprised. But of course they pronounce his name wrong and that really irks me.

I don't mind it so much. What I do mind is--going back to Gotham--Alfred's portrayal. He's encouraging Bruce to be violent? To beat kids up with his dad's watch? C'mon!

I like Alfred. He feels like a real person to me. I think the Alfred who was so involved in Bruce Wayne's secrets would be the kind of guy to teach him to fight in his youth. This is a vibrant and younger Alfred...I can totally see it.

Eh, I'd have to disagree. He's being a jerk to Bruce, and teaching him to be violent as opposed to being disciplined. What kind of father figure hands a kid a weapon and allow the kid to use it on another kid, no matter how much that other kid deserved it? Alfred just gave Thomas Elliot the reason he needed to be one of Bruce's most tenacious and brutal adversaries when they become older.

Still waiting on a full-blown Dredd series.

(No, I don't expect this to ever actually happen. I would chop an appendage off for a movie sequel though.)

Whatever you linked is not working Skully, sorry. And yes to Dredd! I still have my Judge Dredd pin I got from somewhere.

Idk Ethan, I think Bruce is learning discipline from Alfred. It's different when the kid is the "boss", when the adult has to be subservient to the kid. There are dynamics to that relationship which are complex. In effect Alfred has to do what Bruce says. Also, I don't think that Alfred is the father figure in this series. I think the father figure is Jim Gordon.

I'd watch a series about him so hard. I think it would have to be a lot campier than the movie though, or half the storylines would need to be scrapped.

Man, that last episode. Season or midseason finale or whatever, I thought was pretty bad. Roles were not consistent or logical with previous character traits. Nevertheless, I like the story and hope they continue.
